Where Are We?

The GT is nestled conveniently between the market towns of Boroughbridge and Knaresborough, with the spa town of Harrogate and vibrant, historic city of York only a stone’s throw away.

This makes us the perfect base to explore the local attractions, indulge in a spot of shopping, or pull on your walking boots for a day out in the Dales.

Harrogate

The spa town of Harrogate, famous for Betty’s Tea Rooms and the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, is a beautiful location for a leisurely afternoon, a wander around the shops, or time out just to relax.

It holds attractions such as the beautiful Valley Gardens, RHS Harlow Carr, and the fashionable Montpellier Quarter where the famous Pump Rooms are located.

Knaresborough

As Kenneth Graham famously wrote, there is nothing half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats, which is one of the wonderful pastimes on offer in picturesque Knaresborough.

A market town with quaint cobbled streets, Knaresborough boasts one of England’s oldest tourist attractions: Mother Shipton’s Cave. Soak up the views of the River Nidd and the viaduct, beautiful on a summer’s evening, while indulging in a walk around the historic site of Knaresborough Castle.

The Yorkshire Dales

For fans of a day out in the fresh air, The Yorkshire Dales National Park awaits. It boasts natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Aysgarth Falls, as well as the beloved Three Peaks which attracts hikers year round.

Walking, hiking, cycling, you can do it all, then sample some local Wensleydale Cheese once you’ve worked up an appetite. You can also visit the Whittaker’s Gin Distillery for a tour, then enjoy your favourite tipple back in the GT’s bar and restaurant.

Further Afield

Venture a little further and you can explore Ripon, one of England’s smallest cities, and visit the historic cathedral.

Ilkley, Otley, Skipton and the Dales villages of Masham (where the Black Sheep Brewery resides), Leyburn and Bedale, all picturesque and offering their own unique charm, are all within reach so you’ll never be short of places to visit during your stay.
